Ep. 43: ‘Bride of Frankenstein (1935)’ or ‘ A New World of Pods and Monsters… wait… that’s terrible… CUT!!’

The Ballyhoo becomes The Bally-Boo as the show kicks off an entire month of horror chatter.

This week, Zach is joined by actress and make up artist Erin Mullane (Gone Daddy Gone, Heavy Hangs the Sky) to piece together the many parts needed to discuss James Whales’ terrifying and hilarious 1935 masterpiece, ‘BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN’.

Journey with us into the world of Gods and Montsers as the two dig into the life and times of director James Whale, discover the amazing origin of Elsa Lanchester, gush over the brilliance of Karloffs return to the role that made his career, marvel at the special effects and make-up that stands the test of time, laugh uncontrollably at the ridiculous notes from Breen office censors, show adoration and appreciation to the films LGBTQ and camp qualities, and rattle off the countless ways the film has influenced the horror landscape and cinema as a whole.

There are many thrills and chills abound; but as Mr. Jimmy would want, there are plenty of moments for levity like Elsa and Charles Laughton getting attacked by swans, a meeting between Boris Karloff and Divine, and The Monster entering the View Askew-niverse.
