Ep. 12: ‘The Searchers’ or “The Troubling Myths of Monument Valley’

Zach is joined again by Writer and Film Lover Adam Jewell to explore the old west with a close and honest look at John Ford’s 1956 film, ‘The Searchers’.

Join them on the dusty trail as the two discuss the troubling tropes surrounding the Westerns of days gone by, wrestle with the legacy of both Ford and John Wayne in popular culture, discuss the undeniably astounding use of live locations to provide true scope, and get very serious about the downright troubling and disturbing aspects that permeate the film and where they stand in the current world.

There is also the occasional moment of levity like the boys trying to figure out the geography of Ethan’s journey, the most polite fight in movie history, Zach almost meeting Ron Howard, and don’t even bother to talk about the love plot that means nothing to the story.
