Zach welcomes Writer, Director, and Film Lover John Strelec (‘Gunther’) to teach him and the audiences a thing or two about David Lean as they take a closer look at his 1955 Romance Picture, ‘SUMMERTIME’
Take ride down the canals of Venice with the guys as they talk of the balance of intimacy and vast scope Lean brings to his films, how the film utilizes the glory of Technicolor, the surprising and beautiful age appropriate romance between Katharine Hepburn & Rossano Brazzi, how a grown-up story of this sorts fared in a 1950’s environment of film censorship, a life changing event for Hepburn during production, and the impact the film would have on David Leans career and life.
And as always, there will be levity like the boys trying to figure out what happened to airline travel agencies, a moment of David Lean singing Los Bravos, ponder a sequel set in Akron, OH, and ponder on David Cronenberg being the God of Canada.
PLUS: Hitchcock has many firm words for Mr. Lean
